FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Monrovia, Liberia – August 21, 2024, The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, as part of Component #4 of the Liberia Women Empowerment Project (LWEP), funded by the World Bank, will commence a two-day women empowerment and gender training for key implementing ministries. The training is scheduled to take place from Thursday, August 22 to Friday, August 23, 2024, at the Corina Hotel in Sinkor.
This training aims to strengthen public institutions involved in the project’s implementation, thereby advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment across Liberia. Approximately 50 technical staff from key ministries, including the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA), Ministry of Education (MOE), Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), Ministry of Health (MOH), and Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), will participate in the event.
The training will focus on several critical areas, including gender mainstreaming, monitoring, tracking, and evaluating project outputs and outcomes, conducting gender analysis using established frameworks, and understanding gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response mechanisms. Participants will also receive training on the GBV Referral Pathway, learning how to apply it effectively in their workplaces and communities to prevent and address GBV.
“By the end of this training, the technical staff from participating ministries will have significantly enhanced their capacities to monitor, track, and evaluate project outcomes. They will also be equipped with the knowledge and skills to utilize the GBV Referral Pathway, thereby contributing to the promotion of gender equality in Liberia,” said a representative from the Ministry,” the release is quoted as saying.
This initiative is a crucial step towards building a more inclusive and equitable society where women and girls have equal access to opportunities and resources. By empowering public institutions with the necessary tools and knowledge, the LWEP seeks to create a sustainable impact on gender equality and women’s empowerment in Liberia.
