Adolescent Girls

The Adolescent Girls Division is a Division at the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection with oversight responsibilities  to: Monitor, design and implement adolescent girl programs, initiate policies and activities that seek to optimize and accelerate the growth and development of girls ages 10-24 with special emphasis on girls ages 10-19. 

Over the past decades, the Division has worked tirelessly along with partners in dealing with challenges adolescent girls are faced with by creating safe spaces and platforms to speak to issues affecting them, empowering them through capacity building and life skills training. 

The Division annually  celebrates: 

World Menstrual Hygiene Day – May 28

International Day of the Girl Child – October 11

National Young Women  – August Every Year

The Division also runs programs. eg: the Vulnerable Girls Program which operates the Victoria A Tolbert Hostel in Gbarlatuah, Bong County.
