Aligning Program with National Development Agenda:

#Gender Ministry, UN Women Hold Strategic Technical Meeting

(#Monrovia, Liberia – August 29, 2025), The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) and UN Women Liberia, on Thursday, August 28, 2025, convened a high-level strategic technical meeting, bringing together joint technical teams to strengthen collaboration, harmonize efforts, and align programs in support of the Government of Liberia’s National Development Plan, ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID).

In an opening remarks, Liberia’s Minister of Gender, Hon. Horace Gbeme-Kollie, reaffirmed the Government’s strong commitment and political will to advance gender equality and inclusive development. She acknowledged the remarkable progress in the partnership between MoGCSP and UN Women, noting how the relationship has deepened since the ascendency of the Unity Party–led government.

In that direction, Minister Horace-Kollie said: “We must create a genuine and productive space for collaboration one built on mutual respect, trust, and accountability.”

“This meeting should provide us with a clear direction on how we can strengthen our joint work and achieve measurable outcomes for women, children, and vulnerable groups across Liberia.”

Minister Horace-Kollie also stressed the importance of effective communication and information sharing between UN Women and the Government of Liberia. She called on UN Women to regularly update the Ministry on the scope of its work across the country to ensure alignment with the AAID Agenda.

“It is vital that progress, achievements, and ongoing initiatives are consistently shared with the Ministry,” she added. “This will allow us not only to remain fully informed, but also to track performance and accurately report on how UN Women’s interventions contribute to national development goals within the set timelines.”

Echoing this commitment, the UN Women Liberia Country Representative, Ms. Comfort Lamptey, underscored the timeliness of the engagement.

“Alignment between MoGCSP and UN Women is essential to ensure our efforts directly contribute to national priorities under the AAID Agenda,” Ms. Lamptey said. “This meeting is a vital opportunity to reflect on progress, identify gaps, and agree on joint priorities for 2025 and beyond.”

The joint dialogue reaffirmed the shared mandate of MoGCSP and UN Women to advance gender equality, uphold the rights of women and girls, and ensure their meaningful participation in Liberia’s development process.

Both parties agreed to continue strengthening institutional coordination, streamlining program delivery, and building resilience for long-term national ownership of gender-responsive initiatives.
