The Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Gender, Children & Social Protection with support from UNICEF is convening a three-day working session aimed at developing and validating key documents for the rollout of the Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS+) in Liberia.
The gathering brings together key government ministries and agencies, civil society organizations especially subject matter experts in data management.
The overall objective of the gathering is to strengthen the availability of statistical data on Child Protection through the Child Protection Information Management System Database in Liberia.
Liberia continued to partner with UNICEF and other Child Protection actors to strengthen the Child Protection System and one of the key steps is the development of an effective case management system that addresses the immediate, medium-term, and long-term needs of at-risk and vulnerable children.”
Therefore, UNICEF and the Ministry of Gender Children and Social Protection have identified the need to develop and rollout a Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS+) including the development of data protection and information-sharing protocols, with the aim of harmonizing and standardizing approaches to support safe and ethical data storage, sharing, archiving, and destruction of personal child data as the situation may determine.
Meanwhile, a Technical Working Group has been established to support the preparatory work including the technical and practical aspects of the CPIMS+ rollout.
In this regard, the three-day workshop has been arranged to ensure the relevant technical documents are developed and mobilized stakeholders’ commitment throughout the process. The three-day gathering is currently taking place at the Boulevard Palace Hotel in Sinkor.
