Deputy Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Atty. Laura Golakeh, attended the launch of the Community Health Care Initiative Inc.’s new project, titled ‘Beyond Incarceration,’ which is aimed at improving the hygiene standards of women in Liberia’s prisons.
In her brief remarks, Deputy Minister Golakeh commended the organization for its initiative and pledged the Ministry’s commitment to supporting efforts that bring dignity and empowerment to women and girls in different conditions. She highlighted the importance of addressing inmates’ menstrual hygiene management needs.
The ‘Beyond Incarceration’ initiative is aimed at addressing inmates’ menstrual hygiene management needs while providing them with valuable livelihood skills in producing reusable sanitary pads.
The program was graced by several civil society actors, Government officials as well as the chairperson on Gender at the House of Representatives, Hon. Moima Briggs-Mensah.
