On Monday, April 21, 2025, Deputy Minister Dorley provided senior management with a comprehensive update on the outcomes of a recent gathering of all Government of Liberia (GoL) ministries, agencies, and commissions. The meeting focused on reviewing expected targets and identifying possible interventions through 2029. Each line ministry and agency was informed of its specific targets and planned interventions as part of the government’s national development agenda for 2029.
In his briefing, DMRPP Dorley rolled out the key areas of concern and the corresponding interventions that are expected to be prioritized over the next five years. These include advancements in gender equality, child protection services, social protection and the reduction of gender-based violence. He underscored that achieving these targets requires coordinated efforts from all government entities involved.
“Each ministry now has clear directives on their role and the specific targets they must meet by 2029,” Dorley explained. “This is a collective mission, and we must all stay focused on our shared objectives to ensure that the national development agenda is fully realized.”
The Deputy Minister displayed key indicators and detailed information that had been generated during the meeting. These indicators provide benchmarks for each ministry’s progress and will serve as crucial metrics to track success over the next several years. Dorley pointed out that the data-points are essential for ensuring accountability and aligning actions with measurable outcomes.
He also emphasized the importance of collaboration among ministries and agencies, noting that some issues, such as social protection and gender-based violence, require cross-sectoral interventions. “The government’s success will depend not only on the individual performance of each ministry but also on how well we work together to address these challenges,” he stated.
Dorley concluded his update by urging the senior management team to take immediate action to begin implementing the identified interventions, ensuring that the targets are met within the prescribed timelines. He reiterated the critical role that the MoGCSP plays in this process, particularly in championing the rights and well-being of vulnerable populations, and called for a heightened sense of urgency in meeting the government’s 2029 development objectives.
At the close of the meeting, the senior management team was tasked with ensuring that their respective programs are fully aligned with the national targets and supported by the necessary resources and strategies to effectively deliver on the government’s commitments to the people.
