On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, the Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Hon. Gbeme Horace-Kollie, led a visit to returnee women and children currently being hosted in Samukai Town and Tweh Farm.
The visit aimed to distribute various packaged food and non-food items to family heads with children, predominantly women.
Speaking during the presentation of the packaged items, Minister Horace-Kollie highlighted the significance of the ministry’s visit, reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to the wellbeing of returnee women and children. This visit underscores MoGCSP’s ongoing efforts to provide support and resources to help the women.
Additionally, Minister Horace-Kollie emphasized the importance of empowerment opportunities for the returnee women, stressing that it will help them smoothly integrate into the society and achieve self-sufficiency.
The ministry plans to collaborate with partners to rally livelihood support programs and other pathways for sustainable development and social integration for the returnees.
Representatives from the LRRRC and a host of returnees applauded the ministry’s efforts, making separate remarks to welcome the gesture. The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the support and assistance from the Ministry of Gender and urged the ministry to continue providing livelihood support programs to empower them.
The ministry’s delegation included the Director and Assistant for Social Assistance, along with several ministry staff members.
