Gender Minister Hosts High-Level UN Women Delegation Ahead of 15th Anniversary Celebration

Ahead of activities marking the 15th anniversary of UN Women, Liberia’s Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Gbeme Horace-Kollie, on Thursday, July 17, welcomed a high-level UN Women delegation during a courtesy visit to the Ministry.

The delegation led by Dr. Maxime Houinato, UN Women Regional Director for West and Central Africa, was accompanied by Ms. Comfort Lamptey, UN Women Country Representative, and Ms. Christine N. Umutoni, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Liberia.

Minister Horace-Kollie warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the longstanding partnership with the UN family.

“We are grateful for the unwavering support from UN Women and the wider UN system. This partnership has been instrumental in shaping our national gender agenda and empowering women and girls across Liberia,” she said.

The visit highlights the continued alignment between Liberia’s gender priorities and UN Women’s strategic vision for gender equality, particularly in areas such as women’s leadership, economic empowerment, and the fight against gender-based violence. It also sets the tone for deeper collaboration as the organization reflects on 15 years of impact and charts the way forward.
