Liberian INGO Forum Holds Acquaintance Meeting With Gender Minister & Team

A delegation from the Liberian INGO Forum recently paid a courtesy visit with Gender Minister and her team to discuss strategies and joint approaches of supporting the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP).
The primary mission of LINGO was to strengthen partnership and reaffirm its commitment to rallying the support of LINGO’s 54 members in delivering high-quality programmes while enhancing coordination among themselves.

Accordingly, this would be achieved through an effective communication, information sharing, and liaising with government ministries, agencies, and other entities such as UN agencies, embassies, and the donor community.

Minister Gbeme Horace-Kollie earlier welcomed the forum and expressed gratitude for the level support and coordination from LINGO forum over the years. She indicated that she and her team are ready to strengthen the partnership as the Ministry looks forward to attracting additional partnerships aimed at supporting its programs.
 
She highlighted the issues of street children, reactivating the call center, the setting up of a legal unit at the ministry, as as renewing some key policies and regulations that address gender equality, as part of key priorities of the ministry.
 
The Gender Boss also emphasized the importance for support and collaboration from the Liberian INGO Forum in advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment in Liberia.
Minister Horace-Kollie pinpointed the need of working together to address the numerous challenges faced by women and children across the country.
 
At least 15 of the 54 members of Liberian INGO Forum formed part the meeting. They pledged to continue working closely with the ministry’s new team in an effort to address gender issues in Liberia.
