In a heartfelt gesture of support and social responsibility, the National Lottery Authority (NLA) last week made a significant donation of food and non-food items to the Julue-ta Care Center, an orphanage facility under the supervision of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MGCSP).
The Julue-ta Care Center is home to several vulnerable children living with various conditions, including those with disabilities and children in need of long-term care. The Ministry has been providing consistent support to ensure the well-being, protection, and development of these children, despite the many challenges associated with caregiving in residential settings.
The presentation ceremony, held on the grounds of the Care Center, was led by senior executives of the NLA, who expressed their institution’s commitment to supporting national efforts aimed at improving the lives of marginalized and underprivileged children. The donated items included bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, assorted toiletries, pempers, and other essentials.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Ministry, a representative from the Department of Social Protection and Deputy Minister for Research, Policy and Planning, Hon. Curtis V. Dorley, extended gratitude to the NLA for its timely and generous contribution. “This donation will go a long way in helping us meet the daily needs of the children under our care. We thank the National Lottery Authority for recognizing the importance of collective efforts in protecting and nurturing Liberia’s future generation,” the official stated.
Also speaking during the event, NLA Chiet, Reginald Nagbe reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to partnering with the government and other stakeholders to support vulnerable populations, especially children. “As a socially responsible institution, the NLA sees it as a duty to give back to society and help uplift those who need it most, particularly children who depend on us for care and compassion,” one executive remarked.
The Ministry continues to encourage public and private sector partners to join hands in strengthening child protection services across Liberia. Through collaborative efforts like these, the government hopes to ensure that every child has access to a safe, caring, and supportive environment.
The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection remains steadfast in its mission to promote the rights and welfare of all children, and it welcomes further partnerships aimed at achieving this vital goal.
