In support of the Ministry of Gender Support a Child Save the Future, from Streets to Schools Project, Save the Children Liberia has donated 493 school kits to the Ministry of Gender Children and Social Protection in Congo Town Monrovia.
Presenting the school kits on behalf of the institution, The Country Director of Save the Children Ms. Mercy Wanjiku Gichuhi said the donation is part of their commitment in helping the ministry to take as many children from the streets of Liberia to School. Ms. Gichuhi said the fight against the increasing number of street kids requires a collaborative effort as such Save the Children will continue to work with the Ministry of Gender.
she urged the ministry to give the items to beneficiaries across the country.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Ministry of Gender, the Deputy Minister for Children and Social Protection Hon. Garmai Togba extended thanks and appreciation to save the Children for their continuous support to the Children of Liberia.
According to Minister Togba, the donation will go a long way in supporting the ministry efforts especially for kids that will be taken from the Streets and send to schools across the Country.
She promise the school kits will be used for the intended purpose and a report will be made to Save the Children on the number of children that will benefit from the donation.
Minister Togba at the same time call on the President and government of Liberia for more financial support to enable the Ministry to achieve its goal of taking more Children from the streets.
