Addressing Hurdles To Accessing Financial Opportunities

Gender Concludes Stakeholders’ Dialogue on Financial Inclusion Programs and Policies.
The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection in collaboration with partners, on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, concluded a one-day stakeholders’ dialogue on financial inclusion programs and policies.
The meeting was held in continuation of programs marking the celebration of the International Women’s Day (IWD) and the Month of March, which was earlier declared as “Women’s Month’.

The one-day gathering focused on elevating discussions on financial inclusion policies and programs that seek to pave the way for women’s access to financial resources.
With a focus on the local theme ‘Empower Her, Empower All,’ the dialogue was meant to increase the knowledge of women and girls on available opportunities to financial and non-financial information that support women’s growth and development.
The event brings together a cross section of financial institutions as well as women groups and civil society organizations.
During the meeting, heads of various women organizations reechoed the constraints they endure while accessing financial resources. They appreciated the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection and partners for organizing the gathering, but highlighted what they referred to as hurdles that are preventing women from accessing financial resources.
The one-day gathering took place at the EJS Ministerial Complex’s Multipurpose Hall.
Additionally, the women called on the Ministry of Gender to revisit, and also, lead advocacies to would lead to narrowing some of the bureaucracies and bottlenecks they encountered during the process of acquiring or accessing financial resources.
They particularly mentioned the issuance of sectoral clearance, claiming that the monetary value attached by the previous government, has also impeded their progress in accessing financial resources.
