Ending violence against women and girls

Assistant Minister of Gender, Madam Ophelia J. S. Kennedy, recently addressed a two-day Consultation on ending violence against women and girls organized by UN Women.
 
The gathering brought together traditional and faith based leaders, local and international stakeholders and representatives of the Government of Liberia to discuss strategies to clamp down on all forms of violence against women.
 
The engagement meeting with traditional and faith based leaders highlighted efforts and approaches aimed at heightening the fight against gender-based violence and to seek their support in promoting gender equality and women’s rights.
It also explored ways to challenge harmful cultural norms and practices that perpetuate violence against women and girls.
