The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP), through its flagship Save the Future Project, has enrolled five school-age children of Madam Esther G. Freeman, a single mother whose story recently gained public attention following a viral video highlighting her family’s difficult living conditions.
Following an arrangements with TX Hope Mission Senior High School, located in Cow Field Community, Fendell, all five school-age children began classes on Monday, October 27, 2025.
To support their reintegration into the education system, the Ministry also provided a comprehensive school enrollment package, including uniforms, shoes, book bags, textbooks, and copybooks. Additional support, such as food items and clothing, have been mobilized to help stabilize the family’s living condition.
The Save the Future Project also known as the “Street Child Project” is a flagship social intervention initiative of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) designed by the current leadership of the Ministry to provide comprehensive support to vulnerable children and families across the country. The project seeks to ensure that every child, regardless of their socio-economic background, has access to education, healthcare, nutrition, protection, and a nurturing environment for holistic development.
Launched by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai in 2024 as part of the Ministry’s broader child welfare and social protection framework, the Save the Future Project focuses on identifying children at risk, particularly those living in extreme poverty, affected by abuse, neglect, or family instability and connecting them to essential services. Through targeted interventions, the project provides school enrollment assistance, psychosocial support, livelihood empowerment for caregivers, and community-based monitoring to ensure sustained well-being.
The initiative also works in collaboration with local government structures, community leaders, civil society organizations, and development partners to create a coordinated safety net for vulnerable children. By addressing both the immediate needs and the underlying causes of child vulnerability, the Save the Future Project contributes to national efforts aimed at reducing child poverty, promoting social inclusion, and safeguarding the rights of every child.
Ultimately, the Save the Future Project embodies the Ministry’s commitment to building a just and caring society where children are protected, families are empowered, and no child is left behind.
