Gender Ministry Takes Swift Action To Rescue Vulnerable Family

(Monrovia, October 24, 2025), The Save the Future Project Team at the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has responded swiftly to a viral video posted by social media advocate Theresa S.K. Borbor, popularly known as “LiB Geese Girl.” The video highlighted the desperate living conditions of Madam Esther G. Freeman, a single mother of four biological children and four grandchildren, all in urgent need of support.

The widely circulated video revealed that the family was living in extreme poverty, with little to no access to education, adequate nutrition, or healthcare. In response, compassionate individuals in Liberia and abroad began providing financial assistance to help meet the family’s immediate needs, including food and shelter.

Following the broadcast, the Save the Future Project team immediately reached out to LiB Geese Girl Team to establish contact with Madam Freeman and begin a full case management process. The goal was to design sustainable interventions that address both the short- and long-term needs of the family.

On Friday, October 24, 2025, the Project Team, accompanied by the LiB Geese Girl Crew, visited Madam Freeman’s residence in the Fendell Cow Field Community. During the visit, it was confirmed that Madam Freeman has been ill and unable to provide for her family. The children’s father reportedly abandoned them over four years ago. Of the five children of school-going age, three have been out of school for more than three years, while the remaining two have never attended school.

Madam Freeman also disclosed that her adult daughter who is living with a disability and is the mother of the four grandchildren has faced repeated exploitation, often being impregnated by men who abandon her and the children afterward.

In a decisive move, the Ministry has finalized arrangements with TX Hope Mission Senior High School, located in Cow Field Community, Fendell, to enroll all five school-age children. Classes are scheduled to begin on Monday, October 27, 2025.

To support their reintegration into the education system, the Ministry is preparing a comprehensive school enrollment package, including uniforms, shoes, book bags, textbooks, and copybooks. Additional support, such as food items and clothing, is also being mobilized to help stabilize the family’s living conditions.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Gender extends sincere appreciation to the LiB Geese Girl Team for their tireless efforts in amplifying the voices of the voiceless and helping vulnerable families access the support they urgently need.
