Gender Participates In High-level World Bank Seminar

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection participated in a high-level seminar organized by the World Bank under the REALISE Project, highlighting five years of evidence on how social protection and productive inclusion interventions are advancing jobs and economic transformation in Liberia.

The seminar presented findings from rigorous impact evaluations focused on youth entrepreneurship, agricultural livelihoods, and social cash transfers.

Evidence shared demonstrated that addressing key barriers such as limited access to capital, skills gaps, and inadequate market information, significantly increases labor participation, strengthens productivity, and supports transitions into more sustainable employment, particularly for young people and vulnerable households.

As a core implementing partner of the REALISE Project, the Ministry continues to lead the rollout of social cash transfers and strengthen targeting systems to ensure support reaches those most in need. The engagement further emphasized the importance of integrating cash assistance with skills development and livelihood opportunities to promote resilience and long-term economic inclusion.

Speaking during the dialogue, Minister Gbeme Horace-Kollie expressed sincere appreciation to the World Bank and partners for convening such a timely and evidence-driven discussion.

She noted that the seminar opens the way for new ideas, shared lessons learned, and a clearer path forward in strengthening jobs-oriented social protection in Liberia.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to continued collaboration and to advancing inclusive growth through data-informed policy and coordinated action.
