Gender Minister Accompanies President Boakai on Tour of Donated Relief and Educational Supplies

Minister Gbeme Horace-Kollie on Monday, February 23, 2026, accompanied President Joseph Nyuma Boakai on a tour of assorted relief and educational materials donated to support vulnerable children and students across Liberia.

During the visit, President Boakai inspected a warehouse facility at the Freeport of Monrovia where the items are being stored ahead of nationwide distribution. The donation was made by Bishop Trevor Stephen Cockings, President and Founder of His Church Charity, a United Kingdom–based humanitarian organization and longtime friend of the President.

The consignment includes brand-new shoes, sneakers, slippers, clothing, jerseys, and essential school supplies. These items are intended to benefit vulnerable children, underserved communities, and students in public schools, particularly those targeted under the Government’s Back to My Classroom* initiative. The program focuses on counties where school enrollment exists but attendance remains inconsistent, with the aim of reducing poverty-related barriers to education.

Distribution has already commenced in Rivercess County and Grand Bassa County, reaching approximately thirty-six schools in the initial phase. Additional counties are expected to benefit as the rollout continues.

The initiative is being implemented through coordinated efforts involving the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, the Ministry of Education, and the project management team overseeing the program.

To ensure transparency and accountability, a strict distribution mechanism has been established. Donated items are handed directly to students during supervised school visits, after which comprehensive distribution reports are compiled and submitted to the donor organization.
