National GBV Conference Underscores Urgent Need for Collaborative Action To End SGBV

Day II of the National Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Conference in continuation of the activities marking the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence brought together a wide range of stakeholders for meaningful dialogue on the ongoing fight against GBV across the country.

The day focused on deepening collective understanding, strengthening partnerships, and identifying practical solutions to challenges affecting women, girls, and other vulnerable groups as well as deliberating on digital or online abuse.

Participants included representatives from civil society organizations, local and international NGOs, legal practitioners, and community advocates. Through panel discussions and interactive sessions, stakeholders examined thematic issues such as access to justice, survivor-centered approaches, prevention strategies, and community engagement.

The collaborative atmosphere encouraged open discussion and knowledge sharing, allowing participants to exchange experiences and highlight gaps in current interventions. Legal experts contributed insights on improving legal frameworks and ensuring accountability, while NGOs and community actors emphasized grassroots strategies and the need for sustained support.

As the conference progressed, stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to working together to strengthen national mechanisms for preventing and responding to GBV. Day II concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and a collective resolve to advance policies, advocacy efforts, and community initiatives that protect the rights and dignity of all individuals in Liberia.
