
Gender Minister Visits 15-year-old Sodomy Survivor, Assures Full Educational and Psychosocial Support
(Monrovia, Liberia), The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Gbeme Horace-Kollie, has paid a visit to a 15-year-old boy who was allegedly gang-sodomized.
The visit forms part of the Ministry’s statutory mandate to protect survivors of sexual violence and ensure their safety, recovery, and overall welfare. During the visit, the Minister interacted directly with the child in a safe and supportive environment, reassuring him of the Government of Liberia’s unwavering commitment to his protection, recovery, and well-being.
The Minister also engaged with other students at the institution and inspected key areas of the campus, including the dormitory facilities. Additionally, the Minister assessed the school’s science laboratory, currently undergoing renovation, to ensure that learning facilities meet acceptable standards.
Hon. Horace-Kollie assured the child and his family that the Ministry will assume full responsibility for the cost of his education, ensure the provision of comprehensive psychosocial support, and closely monitor his welfare. The child also confirmed that he is in stable health and ready to resume school on Monday. He expressed appreciation to the Minister for the placement and conveyed profound gratitude for the supportive environment.
The Ministry remains in constant contact with the boy’s mother, who has also provided both food and non-food items to support to support the child.
As part of the visit, the Minister engaged authorities of the institution and held further discussions with the boy to understand whether there were additional concerns requiring urgent attention. The Ministry emphasized that the safety, dignity, and confidentiality of the child remain paramount.
The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection reiterates its zero-tolerance policy on sexual violence against children and assures the public that its legal team is working closely with relevant authorities to ensure accountability, justice, and the protection of survivors of abuse.
The Ministry calls on parents, guardians, school administrators, and the general public to remain vigilant and to promptly report all forms of abuse through its 116 toll free hotline.
It can be recalled, in December 2025, Peter Bon Jallah, the former Special Assistant to the Director of the National Security Agency, Maj. Gen. Prince C. Johnson, allegedly sodomized the 15year old boy along with two unidentified men in the Sinkor Community.
