Peace begins where people live. Through the Awareness Phase of SASA!, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MGCSP) is taking learning beyond meeting halls and into the heart of communities; under the shade of trees, during free time, and in everyday spaces where people feel comfortable.
In Gbarngay, Gbanja Ta, BellehKpalamu, and Gboorketa in Bokomu District, Gbarpolu County, Community-Based Activists and Leaders are helping neighbors reflect, discuss, and act together to build safe, peaceful, and dignified communities. Every conversation is strengthening respect, challenging harmful social norms, and encouraging families to stand against violence.
The community check-in and activism session reached 36 participants; 16 women, 8 men, 7 boys, and 5 girls, showing that lasting change happens when everyone has a voice.
When communities become classrooms, peace becomes everyone’s lesson, and every citizen becomes an agent of change. Through the Government of Liberia, led by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, the Awareness Phase is bringing hope, safety, and dignity closer to the people, one community at a time.
