MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection Hon.
Gbeme Horace-Kollie has challenged graduates of GONET Academy’s 14th Cohort to pursue excellence, uphold integrity, and become purposeful leaders during the academy’s graduation ceremony held yesterday at Harvest Intercontinental Church in Congo Town.
The ceremony celebrated the graduation of 863 professionals out of 1,112 enrolled learners, representing all 15 counties of Liberia.
59.4 percent of the learners were women, who recorded an impressive 95.88 percent completion rate, compared to 90.8 percent for men.
Participants also improved their average knowledge scores from 55 percent to 93.1 percent, reflecting a 48.1 percent knowledge gain.
Delivering the keynote address, Minister Horace-Kollie reminded graduates that academic success must be matched with strong character.
“While qualifications may open the door, integrity determines how long that door remains open.”
She urged the graduates to make excellence their defining trait, adding, “Let excellence become your personal signature. Excellence should be what people remember you for.”
Recognizing the academy’s majority female graduating class, the Minister applauded women for overcoming longstanding barriers, saying, “Women continue to break barriers and redefine possibilities through courage, determination, resilience, and perseverance.”
However,GONET Academy’s Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Kerkulah reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to developing Liberia’s human capital, emphasizing that the academy exists to transform lives through practical, industry-relevant education.
“Our mission has never been merely to issue certificates or diplomas.
Our mission is to transform people, transform communities, strengthen institutions, and ultimately transform our nation,” Kerkulah said.
The graduation featured 723 Foundational Certificate graduates, 126 Comprehensive Professional Program graduates, and 14 Professional Diploma graduates, underscoring GONET Academy’s continued contribution to building a skilled workforce for Liberia’s development.
