
The Ministry Of Gender, Children And Social Protection-Liberia on Monday, March 16, 2026 held its official side event on the discussion of Female Genital Mutilation at the CSW70 in New York City.
The Side event was part of the official two week event of the CSW70. The gathering brought together over 80 participants and highlighted cross countries experience sharing during the event.
Liberia’s Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister, Honorable Gbeme Horace-Kollie opened the Discussions, mirroring Liberia’s Progress Report on FGM bill and other Gender Based Violence Issues and the Impact the Ministry of Gender is making to help vulnerable women and girls.
Cross countries Panelists including Gender Ministers from the Republic of Gambia, Honorable Fatou Kinteh, Hon. Dr. Dorothy Gwajima, Minister for Community Development, Gender, Women and Special groups of the United Republic of Tanzania, and the chairperson of the Anti-FGM Board in Kenya, Madam Ipato Korema.
Other special guests included, Honorable Ellen Attoh Wreh, Chair of the Women Legislative Caucus, Madam Ellen Pratt, Executive Director of the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Center, Amb. Jaha Dukureh, UN Women FGM Ambassador, and Madam Juli Endee, Executive Director of the Crusaders for Peace, among others.
Liberia’s side event at the CSW70 was hosted under the theme “Accelerating the Path to Protection: A Regional Exchange to Ending FGM.
