“Youth and Women are not just beneficiaries of peace but the architects of peace. Their Voices are not only heard but shaping the perspective of peace and the future. This project is coming at the time that Liberia needs to sustain its peace and the Ministry Of Gender, Children And Social Protection-Liberia remains committed to supporting the full implementation and actualization of this project to achieve the peace we want”, Hon. Gbeme Horace-Kollie made these remarks at the official launch of the PeaceGen Project in Liberia.
The Generation for Peace Project, a 36months intervention, aims to strengthen women’s and youth leadership in peacebuilding, transitional justice, memorialization, and accountability processes in Liberia, while advancing the Youth, Peace and Security agenda. The project is expected to be implemented in Bomi, Bong, Nimba, Lofa and Montserrado Counties.
This project, funded by the European Union in Liberia and Co-Funded by the Embassy of Ireland in Liberia will buttress efforts of the Liberia Women Empowerment Project in sustaining youth and women’s involvement in community leadership for sustained peace.
