At Gborho Central High School campus in Zai Town, Grand Gedeh County, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MGCSP), through the Liberia Women Empowerment Project (LWEP), conducted a monitoring visit to a life skills session centered on the theme “Setting Healthy Boundaries.” The session brought together 14 students, including 12 girls and 2 boys, and served as an opportunity to reinforce essential life lessons that promote self-awareness, personal responsibility, and positive decision-making. The monitoring exercise also highlighted the Ministry’s continued commitment to ensuring that young people receive meaningful guidance that supports both their personal growth and academic development.
Although schools are currently on break, Club Supervisors remain actively engaged with club members, providing structured learning sessions that complement the formal school curriculum. During the interactive discussion, students explored the importance of recognizing and respecting personal boundaries, building healthy relationships, communicating confidently, resisting negative peer pressure, and making informed choices that protect their well-being. These sessions create safe spaces where young people can openly share experiences, ask questions, and develop the confidence needed to navigate everyday challenges with resilience and self-respect.
Through the Liberia Women Empowerment Project, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection continues to invest in the holistic development of Liberia’s young people by equipping them with practical life skills that foster confidence, strengthen character, and encourage positive attitudes and behaviors. By empowering adolescents with the knowledge and tools to make safe and responsible decisions, LWEP is helping to build a generation of informed, resilient, and responsible leaders who will contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of their communities and the nation as a whole.
