Ministry Of Gender, Children And Social Protection-Liberia Empowers Students to Speak Up Against GBV

Pouh’s Town, Gbao District – Grand Gedeh County

On Friday, March 27, 2026, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MGCSP) through the Liberia Women Empowerment Project (LWEP) visited Pouh’s Town Elementary School to strengthen awareness on Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) reporting pathways.

During the visit, School Principal Mr. Alphonso Kmawou and two school club members (out of 10) participated in a short engagement focused on knowledge transfer to students on how to recognize and report Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

The students learned about safe reporting channels, including the national GBV hotline 116, and were encouraged to speak up and seek help whenever they or someone else experiences violence or abuse.

Empowering young people with the knowledge to report and prevent GBV is key to building safer schools and communities.
