The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, through the Liberia Women Empowerment Project (LWEP), has officially commenced a three-day Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Core Concept Modules Review and Validation Workshop at Kendeja Resort Hotel. The workshop brings together representatives from government institutions, development partners, civil society organizations, and other key stakeholders to review and validate essential training modules that will strengthen gender-based violence prevention and response efforts across Liberia. This collaborative initiative reflects the Ministry’s continued commitment to building effective systems that protect women, girls, and vulnerable populations.
The first day of the workshop featured an overview presentation by Marian L. Rogers, Lead Gender Specialist for LWEP, who outlined the objectives of the review process and emphasized the importance of developing practical, standardized learning materials for GBV programming. Participants then engaged in interactive group working sessions and presentations covering critical modules, including Gender-Based Violence, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Psychological First Aid (PFA), and other foundational concepts. These sessions encouraged meaningful dialogue, knowledge sharing, and technical input to ensure the modules are comprehensive, relevant, and responsive to the realities faced by communities throughout Liberia.
As the workshop continues, participants will refine and validate the training materials that will serve as a foundation for capacity building and improved service delivery nationwide. The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, through LWEP, remains committed to strengthening institutional capacity, fostering collaboration among stakeholders, and equipping frontline responders with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to gender-based violence. Together, we are building stronger systems that promote dignity, safety, and equal opportunities for women and girls while creating safer, more resilient communities across Liberia.
