The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MGCSP), through the Liberia Women Empowerment Project (LWEP), continues to deepen community engagement and expand opportunities for women across Liberia. On Friday, June 12, the Ministry conducted a Community Orientation Meeting at the Zwedru Market Community, Zone Two, in Zwedru City, bringing together 60 participants, including 58 women and 2 men. The orientation served as an important platform to introduce community members to the objectives and benefits of the project while encouraging active participation in initiatives designed to improve livelihoods, promote women’s economic empowerment, and strengthen local development.
During the meeting, the community mapping exercise identified 33 individual enterprises, highlighting the entrepreneurial potential that exists within the community and providing valuable information to guide future LWEP interventions. Although no Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs), livelihood groups, health facilities, courts, or schools were mapped during the exercise, the engagement underscored the importance of continued collaboration with local communities. The Ministry remains committed to working alongside community members to expand opportunities for women, strengthen local participation, and ensure that the Liberia Women Empowerment Project delivers meaningful and lasting impact across the country.
