
The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MGCSP), through the Save the Future Project, proudly celebrated the graduation of 150 predominantly female caregivers connected to former street children, marking the second consecutive graduation ceremony under this transformative initiative. The graduates successfully completed vocational and technical skills training at the Innercity Mission–Christ Embassy Vocational Training Institute, with support from the Government of Liberia. The program equips caregivers with practical, marketable skills to improve their livelihoods, strengthen their families, and provide safe and nurturing environments for the children under their care, while addressing the underlying economic challenges that often contribute to children living or working on the streets.
One of the ceremony’s most inspiring moments was the recognition of Dorcus A. B. Dailaway, the only female trainee in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Department, who graduated as the dux of her department. Her achievement broke barriers in a field traditionally dominated by men and reflected the determination and resilience that the program seeks to inspire. Speaking during the ceremony, Dorcus expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the Ministry and its partners for investing in her future, noting that the training has empowered her as a single mother with the skills and confidence to build a better life for herself and her son.
The graduation underscores the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to empowering caregivers as a sustainable approach to child protection and family strengthening. By providing vulnerable caregivers with income-generating skills and opportunities for self-reliance, the Save the Future Project is helping to reduce the risk of children returning to street situations while promoting stable households and resilient communities. The Ministry remains committed to expanding initiatives that restore hope, create opportunities, and ensure that every child grows up in a safe, supportive, and caring environment.
