The Ministry Of Gender, Children And Social Protection-Liberia‘s (MGCSP) continues to advance community-led efforts to promote positive social norms through the Liberia Women Empowerment Project (LWEP).
During a recent field visit to Bowein Town (Dowein District) and Sass Town (Tehr District) in Bomi County, Gabriella Pinto of Raising Voices observed SASA! community sessions facilitated by trained activists. The visit aimed to observe ongoing sessions, engage with activists and leaders, and monitor the progress made following the training of community activists.
Using the SASA! Power Poster, activists facilitated discussions on “Power Within,” encouraging participants to reflect on the positive use of power to promote respect and peaceful relationships. The session brought together 25 participants (17 women, 6 men, and 2 persons with disabilities) who actively shared their experiences.
The Liberia Women Empowerment Project (LWEP) is implemented by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, with financial support from the World Bank.
