The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MGCSP), through the Liberia Women Empowerment Project (LWEP), has approved 128 women-led businesses for livelihood grants following the recent Independent Proposal Evaluation and Approval Committee (IPEAC) meeting in Monrovia on the 1st – 2nd of April, 2026.
Out of 149 business plans reviewed from Gbarpolu, Bomi, Grand Cape Mount, and Rural Montserrado, the approved enterprises include 71 Village Savings and Loan Associations, 55 Individual Enterprises, and 2 Farmer-Based Organizations.
Once implemented, the grants are expected to benefit 3,132 individuals, including 2,700 women, thereby strengthening economic opportunities for families and communities.
As emphasized by Hon. Gbeme Horace Kollie, Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, these grants are an investment in women’s leadership, resilience, and economic independence.
Through LWEP, the Government of Liberia, supported by the World Bank, continues to empower women entrepreneurs and strengthen sustainable livelihoods across the country.
